Brent crude held above $114 a barrel after Houthi attacks on Saudi facilities, an evacuation at Saudi Aramco's headquarters and Libyan outages stacked supply risks, keeping the global inflation impulse firmly bid.

Brent crude traded near $114.32 a barrel on Tuesday, extending a third consecutive weekly gain, while WTI hovered around $101. The rally has been driven by a cluster of simultaneous supply threats: Houthi claims of attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities, an evacuation at Saudi Aramco's headquarters, and renewed Libyan production disruptions.

Geopolitical risk premia are being layered on top of an already tight market. Qatari mediators travelled to Tehran amid reports of a possible U.S. strike on Iran, and Ukraine struck a major oil terminal near St Petersburg in retaliation for Russian attacks on its energy grid. Each headline adds to the supply-discount traders apply.

The macro consequence is the dominant theme of late October: an energy-driven inflation impulse that has forced central banks back into tightening mode and reset rate expectations across the developed world. With U.S. CPI at 3.7% year-over-year and producer prices rising upstream, the oil tape is now the single most important input into monetary policy.
